The Tirau Markets started up in June,2009, in Tirau - a vibrant little town
set in the South Waikato amongst some of New Zealand's most fertile farmland.
The markets offer an exciting venue for producers and makers to meet
and sell their product, building community spirit with locals and visitors.
The market provides a focal point for the community by providing facilities
and support for vendors in the convening of a country style market (including
produce, art & craft, pottery).
The inaugural celebration/opening of the market was a huge success. The next event is on the 19th July, the 3rd Sunday of
the month, 9am to 2pm, at a central venue: 29 Main Road, Tirau.
Interested stallholders already include, food producers from the Waikato
making delicious small goods, bacon, cheese, baking, wine along with art and
craft, this market will be a mixture of farmers and creatives.
Tirau certainly got an injection of market fever. Comments ranged from fantastic to
"we have not seen Tirau like this for many years- just like the old times."
